North 99

Short clip from North 99

For more than a year I was staring at that huge window. I slept right below it in my new studio in Trondheim until one day in the summer of 99 I looked at it through the camera. I shot a little everyday, every time the sunlight fell on the window.  The filming continued through the seasons for a whole year.

It was mostly edited in camera with shots about a second long, unstable and shifting exposure, framing, focus and zoom - all heavy lens work. The sound was recorded on the window itself with birds, cars and wind outside and the sound of rattling tripod, moving furniture, boiling water and noise from inside.

North 99 was to capture the window and how it framed the world, not what I see through the window but the window itself, if that is ever possible.

North 99 is a film about light, color and movement and a study of that particular window.
